The quality of the surface of 304 stainless steel is mainly determined by the pickling process of heat treatment. If the surface oxide scale formed by the previous heat treatment process is thick or the structure is uneven, pickling cannot improve the surface smoothness and uniformity. So, what are the precautions for heat treatment of 304 stainless steel plate?
The uneven thickness of the oxide layer on the surface of 304 stainless steel plate will result in different smoothness of the metal surface, and during acid washing, the dissolution of the surface oxide layer and the degree of acid erosion on the metal body where the oxide layer adheres will be different. Therefore, when heat treating 304 stainless steel plate, it is necessary to uniformly form an oxide layer.
There are residual oxide scales in the local heat treatment of 304 stainless steel plate processed parts. After heating, there will be differences in the thickness and composition of the oxide layer between the parts with residual oxide layer and those without oxide layer, which will cause uneven surface after acid washing.
The oxide scale generated on the surface of stainless steel in direct contact with gas or oil flames is different from that in non-contact areas. Therefore, when heating, it is necessary to ensure that the processed parts do not directly contact the flame mouth.
If stainless steel is heated and oil adheres to the surface of the workpiece, the composition of the oxide layer thickness in the areas where oil adheres and the oxide layer thickness in other areas will be different, and carburization will occur.
If there are impurities on the surface of stainless steel, especially organic matter or dust adhering to the workpiece, heating will have an impact on the oxide layer.
The difference in atmosphere inside the stainless steel plate furnace can also cause certain changes in the formation of oxide scale, and is also the reason for uneven acid washing.
